# Python SDK reference

Source: /docs/reference/python.md

Install the published package with `python -m pip install vortexify==0.1.1`. Use Python for the backend behavior your app needs; each resource has its own source and third-party dependencies.

| Reference | Purpose |
| --- | --- |
| [Connectors and syncs](/docs/reference/python/connectors-and-syncs) | Access an external system and extract selected datasets |
| [Transforms](/docs/reference/python/transforms) | Prepare reusable tables in the background |
| [APIs](/docs/reference/python/apis) | Answer requests and perform backend operations |
| [Databases](/docs/reference/python/databases) | Define app-owned storage in YAML/SQL and consume it from Python |
| [Custom agents](/docs/reference/python/agents) | Give app users an assistant with declared data and tools |
| [Compute and schedules](/docs/reference/python/compute-and-schedules) | Choose allocations and automated refresh behavior |
| [Tests and validation](/docs/reference/python/testing-and-validation) | Test with supplied inputs and inspect real outputs |

Use the [building guides](/docs/building/bring-in-data) for the workflow and the [CLI reference](/docs/reference/cli/overview) for saving, running, and publishing source.

Use `vortexify==0.1.1` in resource `requirements.in`, matching the SDK in platform base images. Uploaded tables use `Table("_upload.table_name")` in transform/API inputs or agent context. `_upload` is reserved for uploads. Committing sync/database/transform references requires committed producer source, not completed producer executions; execution still requires the published data or database schema. An uploaded-table reference requires an existing uploaded table.
